1972 V6 GT Capri
“PLUM GT”
FULLY RESTORED
All matching numbers car
This car featured on the front cover and centrefold in Australian Classic Car in June last year.
This Wild Plum GT has undergone a full mechanical and interior rebuild over the last 2 years. The car was on club license plates until a few months ago. It passed a full license inspection and is now on normal registration in Western Australia.
Interior
Brand new correct seat and door trim material, re-foamed and covered dash, roof lining, NOS seat belts, new carpets with extra underlay, steering wheel re-stitched leather, new parcel tray and the AM/FM stereo is out of a XF Falcon as the dash hole was the same size, new speakers are mounted in the parcel tray cardboard so they can't be seen. New instrumentation laminate kit from the UK has been fitted. New switches were sourced and all instruments and electrics work. Also relay mod for the head lamps as per the picture.
Exterior
New front windscreen, with new front and rear windscreen rubbers, door rubbers, baileys, etc. Paint and panel is very good with no rust. The bumper chrome is good, the only chrome bubbles are on the drivers door handle.
Suspension
Suspension was completely done front and rear, new shocks, rubbers, and steering rack.
Drive train
Engine and gear box was rebuilt, new cam [standard GT] bearings in both etc. The previous owner undertook the restoration of this vehicle. He races Fords, so his chosen builder knew how to make a bullet proof engine. The drive shaft is balanced and it runs a LSD diff. [the original centre comes with the car] The carburation is the standard webber with the inlet manifold mods done to make the make it flow better. New Geni extractors. Electronic ignition and chrome air cleaner.
Wheels are polished Hot Wires with fairly new Toyo tyres.
This is a fully restored classic that you couldn’t rebuild for this sort of money. Any inspection will impress.
Wild Plum was a rare colour and even rarer in combination with the brown interior. High-back bucket front seats became standard on post 1971 Capris due to an Australian Design Rule (ADR).
