On this page; Aussie 1600GT, 3000E in New Zealand (for sale) and Perana V8 in Western Australia (also for sale).
The ad at left is for an Australian built MK1 1600 GT. This car is a 'twin sister' to my 1600 in that my car was the same colour scheme; Yukon Yellow with black side stripes and bonnet black panels. The simple hubcaps were standard on a GT in Australia; you could option up to a full wheel cover or the even more prestigous 'Sports Road Wheels'; called 'Rostyle' in the UK.
The car sold for the asked $13,000 to a private collector, who I'm told specialises in classic UK Fords. The car was a genuine 1 owner for 36 years and had just clocked 100,000 miles. The lady replaced the Capri with a Kia.
The very rare Capri 3000E. It is offered for sale in New Zealand. The words in italics are from the ad.
This car is now available for sale after being in storage for a time. Being one of the rarest models the 3000E represents Fords attempt to break into the luxury sports car market. Produced for only about two years, it was superceeded by the 3 litre GXL model, this being a only a pale echo of the 3000E. This car is finished in Aqua metallic with black vinyl roof. It features full black leather interior with walnut cappings, electric windows and sunroof. Factory spot lights, map light, spoiler and rear louvre. 3 litre V6 engine with manual overdrive gearbox. Original Rostyle wheels, new tyres. The interior sports four individual sculptured seats with numerous luxury features for passengers. A previous show winning car, this is a very hard model to find as this car was only produced in very small build numbers.
The personalised plate goes with the lucky buyer of the car.
Rear panel garnish was fitted to 3000E models.
Leather seats and door panels. Walnut on the lower passenger side dash panel, console top and door panel tops. Was it real veneer? The instrument cluster facia has a black vinyl finish not unlike the later facelift GT and RS Capris.
The South African modified Perana V8 Capri. This example, number 121, is still for sale as at October 2006.
